The Proposal(s)

After designing and ordering their engagement rings using stones gifted to them by their incredible families, all that was left to do was wait. Wait and plan. While Lauren Hogue devised a plan to propose in front of a large group of friends and family at Thanksgiving dinner, she didn't know that Lauren Pittman was also getting in touch with Sharon, their friend and gemologist.

The week before the proposal was to take place, Lauren Hogue received some bad news:  The rings wouldn’t arrive in Charleston in time to pick them up before Thanksgiving. Undeterred, she continued on with her plan to propose by employing a “gorgeous” tinfoil ring as a stand-in for the real thing. After all of the dinner attendees had taken their turn saying what they were thankful for, it was Lauren H.’s turn. Blubbering and ugly-crying the whole time, Lauren H. told Lauren P. that she was most thankful for her and asked her to be her wife (along with more indiscernible yet kind and loving words). She said “yes.”  Although an awesome proposal, it isn’t the end of the story.

The very next day, Lauren Pittman pretended to take their new puppy, Jerome, to the vet; while Lauren H. and their dear friend Katheryn did some shopping downtown. Actually, Lauren Pittman had a sneakier errand in mind. Later that evening, once the Laurens and Katheryn were back home, a cocktail was suggested. Once the drinks were served up, Lauren Pittman proposed a toast. It was a beautiful and thoughtful toast to Lauren Hogue. At the end of the toast she turned the question back to the Lauren who has just asked the day before, “Will you marry me?” She took Lauren Hogue completely by surprise by presenting her with HER RING and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers!! Per Sharon’s rules, Lauren Pittman wasn’t allowed to see her ring for the first time until Lauren Hogue was able to give it to her that evening.

It was two proposals in two days! Both Laurens were able to ask in their own way and it made for a very special Thanksgiving weekend.
